Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States, James moved to Canada more than 11 years ago to make a life in Ontario. He graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and has completed his course work for his master’s degree in counseling psychology at Yorkville University, to become a Registered Psychotherapist.
James is married with a daughter and son with whom he spends most of his time playing, swimming, and doing arts and crafts. In his free time, he loves being active at the gym and engages in sports like football, basketball, baseball, and golf. He also enjoys spending time with his friends in his men’s bible study group.
James has a passion for volunteering. He has worked and volunteered in the social services field with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Children’s Aid Society, Movement Church and CMHA. Volunteering with these organizations truly affirms his belief that providing support and hope is a tremendously rewarding act.
The wisdom gained from the adversity and experiences he has faced in his own life, will hopefully guide him to help others. James uses a spectrum of models for his practice including an Internal family Systems perspective on therapy that employs trauma and attachment focused models to help clients find healing. James also engages in Emotionally focused therapy for couples. James is trained with EMDR therapy to also assist clients with trauma therapy.
