EMDR Approved Consultant
Consultation provides an opportunity for therapists to ask questions, receive support for
challenging cases, clarify protocol and procedures, access support for case
conceptualization, deepen your understanding of resource development and installation, and
target sequencing. It is important to engage in regular monthly consultation as it is an
excellent way to receive clinical support and share with EMDR clinicians.
When you join a group or receive individual consultation it helps to develop skills and
confidence.
The process for all consultees is to include client history, case conceptualization and session
process notes as well as any questions they might have when preparing cases to present.
This preparation helps consultees clarify their thinking and enables me to understand how
best to advise them.
Therapists who have completed an EMDRIA-approved training need a minimum of 20
additional hours of consultation from an EMDRIA-approved consultant as part of the
Certification process. Consultation hours can include 10 hours of group and a minimum 10
hours of individual consultation. For more information on Certification criteria go
